With the holidays behind us, we looked forward to some downtime. The Oasis RV Park & Resort is relatively new and boosts a beautiful tropically-landscaped pool area and free WiFi, but because La Marque, is only 10 miles from Galveston, the winds are very strong
and the weather in Jan-Feb is quite cool. There were sunny days, however, spent babysitting, reading, walking, riding bikes and educating ourselves on winemaking & growing grapes at the Haak Winery in Santa Fe. (who would have thought that Texas grew grapes for wine?) We made several trips to our "hometown" at Escapees RV Resort in Livingston, Texas to pick up our mail and obtain new insurance coverage. We also celebrated two special occasions. Don's birthday on January 3rd and our grandson Brandon's 1st birthday on January 9th.

The birthday boy!
Brandon's birthday was
celebrated in Lonview, TX
at David's step-sister, Stacy's home. Gay and Paul were there and we returned with them to their home in Big Sandy to visit for a couple of days.
We visited the Haak Winery
in Santa Fe, TX. They grow
grapes and have local
talent perform on week-
ends. I even got
to prune the vines
on one particular
weekend. It was great fun!
Our laptop crashed the first week of January. Ugh! We didn't realize just how dependent
upon it we were. It's under warranty so we dropped it off at a local branch of the store we
purchased it from. Since they couldn't resolve the problem, off it went to California. We checked as often as possible for completion, but when we left for Casa Grande, Arizona awaiting our Mexican caravan trip, it still had not been repaired. After 6 weeks and on the final day of our stay in Casa Grande, they agreed to a replacement and our son-in-law "came to our rescue." By use of our cell phones, he purchased a replacement computer in Texas, and FedEx'd it to us in AZ. It arrived the afternoon before we left for Mexico.
